History of a Friendship: Shanoah Ulibarri

When I first came to college, I was so afraid that I would not make friends as great as the people that I was leaving behind in Texas. I had known them since I was in elementary school, and a bond like that doesn't just go away. The people I was going to meet at BYU had a lot to prove in just a few short months. Making new friends was the scariest thing I thought I was going to have to face when coming to college, but the Lord is always on my side, and He blessed me with the best college BFF I could ask for. I was so blessed to have amazing roommates who I love, and the best neighbors, one in particular being miss Shanoah. If you would have told me at the beginning of Fall semester that she would be my best friend, I would think you were lying. We had an awkward and rough start in the beginning there. The first time we hung out, I made her be an awkward fifth wheel. Yeah I'm the worst, but look at us now! I seriously don't know what I would do without this girl in my life. She really brings out my crazy side that I'm too embarrassed to show to other people. We've had some of the best memories from our late night talks, dance parties, and belting out to some Bohemian Rhapsody. I really don't know how I'm going to survive Spring term without her coming over all the time, let alone my mission. Shanoah, if you're reading this, YOU BETTER WRITE ME FOOL.

Now here are some pictures so you can fangirl over our perfect friendship.

Where has the time gone...

Wow, can we all just agree that I'm the literal worst for making a blog specifically to document my college experience, and then NEVER posting the entire year that I've been at BYU?? Yeah I'm judging myself, truly shameful. But just so I can make it publicly known, this has seriously been the greatest year of my life. I know everyone probably says that about their freshman year, especially those at BYU, but I really do mean it. I have had some of lowest lows since being here on my own, but I've also had some of the highest highs. I never believed people when they said that you make your closest friends in college, but now I understand. Don't get me wrong, my heart will forever be in sweet little ole' Denison, Texas, but Provo has become my new home, and the friends I've made my freshman year are really a part of my family now. It's crazy to think how there was a point when I felt awkward around all these new people that I didn't know. Now some of them may know a little too much about me, but they still love me anyways. There's never been a dull moment since being here, and I have made memories that will last a lifetime.
